Diabetes is caused by eating sugar

A diet high in calories from any source, including sugar, can cause weight gain, thus increasing risk for Type 2 diabetes

People with diabetes need special foods

A healthy meal plan for diabetics is generally the same as healthy eating for anyone

Sugar free products are healthy

Sugar free label on a product does not make it healthy. Infact, these have lots of carbs, fats and calories

While on medication you can eat what you want

Regularly eating unhealthy food or oversized portions may prevent medication from doing its job

People with diabetes cannot eat
chocolates or sweets

If eaten as a part of a healthy meal plan and combined with exercise, moderate amount can be eaten
